The Boston Belgian Society is a Belgian Society originally founded by six Belgians from diverse backgrounds striving to connect Belgians in Boston and surrounding areas. Its missions are as follows:

  • Welcome and orient new Belgian arrivals in Boston
  • Be a reference point and resource for Belgians and Belgian minded people in Boston
  • Promote Belgian Culture in Boston
  • Assist in networking / connecting Belgians and Belgian minded people

These missions are mainly achieved through different types of events including networking drinks, talks and activities promoting the Belgian culture.

Monthly networking drinks

UNESCO recognises the Belgian beer culture as an “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity”. To honour this, we try to organise a networking drink every month where Belgians and people from other nationalities interested in connecting with Belgians are welcome to network. Our goal is to make this accessible to as many people as possible, which is why we are alternating between drinks on weekdays and weekends to fit a variety of schedules. We are also alternating locations for this drink between Boston, Cambridge and Somerville.

Belgian-themed talks

Our goal is to organise talks highlighting Belgian talent in Boston as well as informative talks about a variety of topics given by people of all nationalities for a non-expert public. If you are interested in giving a talk or have a topic in mind you would like to hear a talk on, feel free to reach out to us!

Belgian-themed social events

Throughout the year we also strive to promote Belgian culture. To achieve this we are planning events ranging from chocolate egg hunts to receptions with Belgian officials. We are always happy to connect with potential sponsors for these type of events, so please reach out if you would like to help.
